Young and old a like had a great time at the Hudson Touch-a-Truck event on Saturday July 25, 2026. The crowd was estimated at 1,200 to 1,500 individuals. EVA of Ohio volunteers participated for the first time with seven members displaying electric vehicles and their EV driving experiences and knowledge. We had a Kia Niro EV, Tesla Cybertruck, Cadillac Lyriq, Rivian R1S, Volkswagen ID.4, Tesla Model 3.
The bubble machine at the EVA of Ohio tent added a festive air to the event. The Environmental Awareness Committee of the City of Hudson shared information about the EV home charger permit process in Hudson. They also showed folks a charging cord with multiple adapters.
And we saw that EVs come in all sizes. The city committee arranged for a 55-foot, battery electric Akron Metro EV Bus to attend. This big EV has a 150-mile range, which is plenty for its daily route and it can go uphill at 40 miles per hour given its powerful electric motors. The kneeling bus has AC and USB ports at all seats. It’s equipped for wheelchair access, which makes EVA of Ohio members happy because our motto is EVs for All.
The EVs at the event showed a good range of the options available to select, ranging from compact SUV hatchbacks, to luxury EVs and large vehicles suitable for moving your entire family or carrying all the gear you need for work or camping trips, etc.
In addition to the EVs there were dump trucks, garbage trucks, food trucks and emergency vehicles for the kids to climb in and check out. Judging from the sounds of the honking horns, the kids have a great time.
