Donate to the Electric Vehicle Association of Ohio

Support EVA of Ohio and our volunteer members’ education and advocacy activities focused on accelerating adoption of electricified transportation.

The Electric Vehicle Association (EVA) of Ohio is a qualified 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Contributions may be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law, and 2026 tax changes introduced incentives for donors.

2026 Charitable Tax Incentives

Starting with the 2026 tax year, significant changes affect how you can deduct your donations:

  • Non-Itemizer Deduction: Individual taxpayers who take the standard deduction can now deduct up to $1,000 for cash contributions. Married couples filing jointly can deduct up to $2,000. These are "above-the-line" deductions that reduce your adjusted gross income (AGI) without requiring Schedule A itemization.
  • Itemizer Floor: For those who itemize, a new rule requires total charitable gifts to exceed 0.5% of your AGI before they become deductible.
  • High-Earner Cap: Taxpayers in the highest tax bracket (37%) will see their federal tax benefit from deductions capped at approximately 35%

Tax-Advantaged Giving Strategies

  • Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs): If you are 70½ or older, you can transfer up to $111,000 annually directly from your IRA to EVA of Ohio. This counts toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) and is excluded from your taxable income, which may be more tax-efficient than a standard deduction.
  • Appreciated Capital Assets: Donating securities (stocks, bonds) or cryptocurrency held for more than one year allows you to deduct the full fair-market value and avoid paying capital gains tax on the appreciation.
  • Estate Planning: You can include EVA of Ohio in your will or trust as a charitable bequest to create a lasting legacy.
