Summer Fun and EV Goodness in Hamilton on Aug. 22

The city of Hamilton in southwest Ohio had it biggest annual festival called Hamilpalooza on Aug. 22. Located downtown at Marcum Park, this family-friendly event featured a splash pad, food trucks, a petting farm, an anything-goes car show, and live music. New this year was an opportunity to talk with EV owners from the Electric Vehicle Association of Ohio and to pick an EV to test drive or ride.

Participants chose from 10 different models, including a Hyundai Ioniq 5, Tesla Model 3 and Y, Cybertruck, Chevy Equinox EV and Silverado EV, Rivian R1T, Cadillac Optiq, Mercedes EQB, and Subaru Solterra. Private EV owner volunteers brought half of our fleet; companies brought the rest.

We gave 54 EV rides and test drives! Thanks to our EV-owner volunteers, to Tesla in Oakley for bringing a Model 3 and Y, and to EVentures Rentals for bringing the Cybertruck. Thanks to our sponsor Jeff Schmitt Chevy for bringing the Silverado EV and the Equinox EV. These had the highest ride counts.

The drive route worked well, a loop with nearly all right turns. Thanks to Hamilton’s riverside location, participants crossed the Great Miami River twice. EVA of Ohio will be looking to do more events in Hamilton, a diverse and welcoming host city.
