Electric Vehicle Association of Ohio members visited northeast Ohio three times during July.
On July 22, we met with Oakwood Village residents, shared pizza, and answered questions about EVs. On July 25, we participated in a Touch-A-Truck event in Hudson. And July 31, we returned to Oakwood Village for its 75th anniversary celebration. We took attendees for a ride in a Rivian R1S, Cadillac Lyriq, Tesla Y, and a Volkswagen ID.4 on a 2.5-mile route through Oakwood Village. Along the way, EV owners shared their personal experiences and answered questions from participants.
The team also displayed a Volkswagen ID.4, Cadillac Optiq, and GMC Hummer for attendees to explore.
“We are thrilled that our EV rides event at Oakwood Village’s 75th anniversary celebration was a wonderful success, thanks to great teamwork,” said Rick Charles, an EVA of Ohio who organized the event. “We tallied a total of 30 rides. Most riders were surprised by how quiet the cars were and by their horsepower.”
The celebration drew an estimated crowd of more than 1,000 people, giving the EVA of Ohio members a strong opportunity to connect with the community and help potential EV drivers make more informed decisions. Many visitors were especially interested to learn how cost-effective EV ownership can be.
“Answering questions about how cost-effective my EV is has been really satisfying,” Charles said.
